L’Italia

Ah, the first Open Road post of the season. That’s right folks, it’s Italy for 10 days to travel by plane, train, boat, and automobile. Many a foto will be snapped, and notes will be documented. I am very excited for this trip—2nd time hopping the puddle. See you in June with a full report.
Until June—Bobby
Trailer Trash
Here are some trailers worth watching… Bloodline. OSS 117. Trumbo.
Portraits

After watching the Earth trailer, I got all adventurous about adventurers and I flickr’d across this set of portraits.
Earth
When Discovery’s Planet Earth was on, I was absolutely memorized. I would record them in HD, watch and rewatch them all the time. That said, I am very excited to see that Disneynature is set to release Earth—narrated by Darth Vader (US version.) It is from the same people behind Planet Earth and there is some footage from that series that makes it into this feature (and I’m okay with that.) I’m just hoping that it will be showing on an Imax theater. Be sure to dig around on the Disneynature site and watch some of the behind the scene’s footage.
Rauschenberg
My good friend Charles first turned me onto Robert Rauschenberg and it wasn’t all that long ago I was up in LA looking at his work in person for the first time. I can definitely say that I was hooked the first time I saw his work and I very frequently find myself thumbing through the book I keep nestled on my book shelf. Here is a write up on NY Times honoring the artist.
Cigarette Cards

Don’t you wish that smokes still came with these amazing caricature cards?
